Sheriff’s Deputy Uses Drone To Deliver Flashlight To Lost Hiker

Last week a lost hiker contacted rescue authorities in Summit County, Colorado, and the technique used by deputies to locate the individual was quite unique.

According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy used a drone with a thermal camera to locate the lost hiker. Once they were found, a flashlight was dropped to the individual from the drone.

With the light in hand the hiker was able to find his way back to the trail, making it easier for the Summit County Rescue Group to locate and assist him

This brilliant maneuver ensured both the hiker and all rescue personnel were able to get out of the scene quickly and without serious consequences.
