The first episode of GoPro’s series Off the Record dropped January 22. It follows three of their newly signed athletes during the first stop of the FWT at Baqueira Beret: Justine DuFour-Lapointe, Marcus Goguen, and Max Hitzig. It brings the tour to the audience from the athletes point of view, giving an in-depth look at what each comp is like. We hear from the athletes about the stress of picking good lines in less than ideal snow conditions and trusting their abilities.
They showcase not just competition nerves but the anxiety that is rampant throughout extreme sports. Injuries are a serious part of competing at the highest level, Max Hitzig had to take last season off due to injury. This series showcases the people behind the athletes and how they have achieved their success and the personal sacrifices of high-level skiing. Follow the series to see how the tour turns out for each of these skiers as they tackle daunting venues all season long.
Episode One introduces the athletes and gives an overview of how they handled the opening stop of the tour. The series focuses primarily on the journeys of Justine, Marcus, and Max but this episode also included clips of Abel Moga and Toby Rafford along with the celebrations following the stop.
