Long Island Police Respond To Bank Burglary Alarm & Find Unexpected Intruder

Long Island police respond to deer breaking into bank.

Officers responding to a burglary alarm at a Long Island, New York bank turned into animal wranglers after coming face to face with the unexpected intruder.

“We think the buck was looking for bucks.” -Suffolk County Police Department

Seventh Precinct Officers Connor Kehoe, Jason Famoso, Shane Matedero, Michael Pitts, and Salvatore Zafonte arrived at the Webster Bank in Ridge at 12:30pm Sunday afternoon and discovered buck deer had smashed through the bank’s window and gotten trapped inside. The deer was panicked and was thrashing around the bank trying to escape, leaving a path of destruction in its wake.

One the officers managed to corner the buck in a cubicle and grab it by its antlers before a lasso was secured around its neck and officers managed to manhandle it out of the same window it had entered through. While this may seem like a lighthearted situation, catching an antler to the face from a thrashing adult deer could very easily lead to a serious injury and commend these officers for their brave and humane handling of the situation.
