Lindsey Vonn Graces Yet Another Magazine Cover Ahead of the Olympics

With the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games just around the corner, all eyes are on not just the athletes most likely to perform well, but those with the most captivating stories. Amongst them is, of course, Queen of the Comeback, ski racer Lindsey Vonn.

Vonn stunned the world with her return to ski racing last winter, at 40 years old and sporting a partial knee replacement. As the Olympic winter kicked off, Vonn quickly proved that she wasn’t messing around after coming out of retirement. In early December, Vonn won her first World Cup race in years at St. Moritz and kicked off a streak of podiums. Just two weeks ahead of the Olympics, Vonn has seven recent World Cup podium finishes under her belt.

Vonn’s comeback has been many things, but cover-worthy seems to be the most fitting adjective currently. After gracing the cover of TIME Magazine, Vonn has added another publication to the list. SELF Magazine is the latest to sport the skier’s photo.

In her cover story with SELF, Vonn emphasizes how her return to competitive skiing had nothing to do with obligation or because her post-racing life was missing something. Rather, Vonn’s return has happened entirely on her own terms because her body (and brand-spankin’ new bionic knee) finally allowed her to do so.

The piece also touches on the fruitful and fulfilling life Vonn built for herself in retirement, one she’s had to put on hold to return to racing. Historically, Vonn hasn’t been the best at reliably calling ‘last run,’ but this time, it truly could be different. Vonn has said she doesn’t intend to keep racing after this season, and the facets of her life outside skiing mentioned in the article seem to reinforce this claim.

Still, we love to see Vonn embrace her celebrity status amongst one of the most epic comebacks of all time. We’d also love to know her skincare routine and hope that we look this good at 41—bionic knee or not.
