Bull Moose Charges Past Alaskan Man Snowblowing His Driveway

U.S. Navy veteran and current real estate professional, Michael Schwartz, had a close encounter with a massive bull moose while tending to his driveway in Anchorage, Alaska after a recent snowstorm:
“I was clearing fresh snowfall from my driveway in Anchorage, Alaska when a moose suddenly decided I was in its way and charged straight toward me to get past and into the clear. It happened fast and was completely unexpected — easily one of the scariest moments I’ve had. Luckily, no one was hurt, and I can confirm I did not need coffee afterward.” –Michael Schwartz
Thankfully the bull moose was more concerned with getting out the area than the man behind the snowblower as it trotted through the powder snow just feet away from Schwartz.
While this encounter ended peacefully and Schwartz came away with an unforgettable memory, it is important to remember that moose are extremely dangerous and close encounters should avoided if possible. The Alaska Department of Fish & Game has an entire webpage dedicated to safely living in moose country including the following 12-minute video on safety around urban moose, produced by ADF&G and middle school students at Mirror Lake School.
