Rock The Pistes Returns
The high-altitude music festival Rock The Pistes will return to the Portes du Soleil from 15 to 21 March 2026, bringing a week of live concerts to one of the world’s largest ski areas. Now in its 14th edition, the Franco‑Swiss event has carved out a reputation as a pioneer of mountain‑stage festivals, staging performances in striking and unexpected alpine locations since its launch in 2011.
Each day of the festival sees a stage erected in a different corner of the ski area, transforming the mountains into a vast cultural playground. Most venues are accessible on skis, with several also reachable by lift for pedestrians, allowing festivalgoers to combine a day on the slopes with live music against a backdrop of sweeping alpine scenery. All concerts are included with a valid lift pass.
Across five days of performances, Rock The Pistes blends sport, music and local culture, celebrating the shared French and Swiss heritage of the region. The atmosphere continues long after the lifts close, with après‑ski concerts, DJ sets and late‑night entertainment taking place throughout the 12 connected resorts.
Organisers have now confirmed the 2026 line‑up. The festival opens on Sunday 15 March with French pop‑rock favourites Superbus performing in Morzine. On Tuesday 17 March, Châtel hosts two acts: Swiss pop artist Stéphane and the electro‑pop collective Boulevard des Airs. The following day, also in Châtel, Wepa Wepa brings upbeat pop to the slopes before rock band Cachemire takes over the mountain stage. On Friday 20 March, electro duo Trinix perform in Morgins, Switzerland, before the festival closes on Saturday 21 March with Nèg Marrons, known for their fusion of reggae and hip hop.
A Portes du Soleil lift pass grants access to all concerts, with day passes priced at €68. Until 15 February, visitors can take advantage of special offers, including 30% off a second day pass and a free seventh day when purchasing a six‑day pass.
Rock The Pistes continues to grow in scale and ambition. Around 25,000 festivalgoers are expected once again, with the event spanning 600 km of pistes, 307 slopes and 90 mountain restaurants. The highest stage sits at 1,814 metres, and the 2025 edition generated more than 2.7 million views on social media. Since 2011, 83 artists have performed at altitude, all under the festival’s defining promise: one pass, skiing and concerts included.
Set between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, the Portes du Soleil links 12 resorts across France and Switzerland, including Avoriaz, Les Gets, Champéry, Châtel, Morzine and Morgins. The area is easily accessible from the UK, with Geneva Airport offering transfers to all villages, and rail connections via Cluses or Thonon.
The festival is organised by the Association Internationale des Portes du Soleil, working closely with the local resorts to create a mountain experience where culture and sport meet in one of Europe’s most spectacular settings.
