Ahead of the Olympics, J.Crew Goes Vintage With U.S. Ski Team Collaboration
It’s a blast from the past.
Via its three-year partnership with U.S. Ski & Snowboard, J.Crew has launched a line of ski apparel featuring bold colors, pointed beanies, and a distinct throwback sheen.
Brendon Babenzien, a creative director at J.Crew, called it “a fresh take on classic American winter style.”
“This collection honors our shared histories while celebrating the elite athletes shaping the future of the sport,” Babenzien added.

The 26-item collection includes knitwear, loungewear, and cold-weather accessories for women, men, and kids. One cashmere sweater nods to the location of the upcoming Winter Olympics, Italy. A striped blue and white rugby shirt looks like something your older relative would be wearing in old, grainy family photos.
J.Crew, for the most part, is known for its slacks, blazers, and dress shirts—not stuff you’d want to put on before heading into a blizzard. But the U.S. Ski & Snowboard collection does include water repellent ski jackets made alongside another of the team’s partners, Kappa.
To draw attention to the threads, U.S. Ski & Snowboard and J.Crew are relying, in part, on American athletes, including freeskiers Colby Stevenson and Rell Harwood.

In Stevenson’s spot, he wears the aforementioned polo and hauls a pack full of equipment. He’s the “gear head.” Harwood, meanwhile, is the “après aficionado,” holding a champagne flute.
Both videos encapsulate the charm of a bygone ski era and include old-timey narration.
The collection arrives as U.S. Ski & Snowboard—and its team members—are preparing to appear on the global stage in Italy. The Winter Olympics start in early February and last throughout the month.
As usual, the Games are set to deliver gripping ski stories, including the fairytale comeback of American skier Lindsey Vonn, who qualified for the Olympics last month at age 41 and has already landed on the podium in several World Cup races this winter.
If the new J.Crew gear tickles your fancy, you can find it online now and in select stores.
