What The Situation Is Like At Telluride This Week

Telluride, Colorado — We’re onto day 12 of the strike, and there appears to be no noteworthy progress towards it ending.
One of the individuals who’s been doing on-the-ground reporting is Headwater News – With Greg Cairns. He captured the scene on Day 1 and Day 10 of the strike, and there are some notable contrasts.
His first video came on the first day of the strike, when he was able to chat with many patrollers about their living situations and with business owners who supported them. In this video, there’s a lot of optimism from ski patrollers and locals.
Compare that with his latest video, which was filmed on Telluride’s reopening day. Telluride is now open, albeit with very limited terrain. Ski patrollers were there to protest, but seemed frustrated with the lack of progress. Business owners are also feeling the strain, as there have reportedly been layoffs at places like the Sheraton. According to The Denver Post, local officials are now warning of a catastrophic economic impact if the strike continues.
Both videos are worth watching, as this on-the-ground reporting provides great insights. You can support Greg on his Patreon here.
If you wish to support the patrol, you can check out the GoFundMe here. If you want to support the ski resort and the town, it is currently open for skiing and riding.
