Utah’s First Waffle Cabin Is Now Open

Brighton, Utah Long known as a Northeast skiing delicacy, the Waffle Cabin is taking root in the Western United States.

This past weekend, Brighton Resort opened up a Waffle Cabin. When I first saw the social media post below, I thought they were going to get a call from the Waffle Cabin’s lawyers for trademark infringement. However, I looked at the Waffle Cabin’s website, and it shows Brighton as one of its locations. That makes Brighton the first ski resort or place in general in Utah to have a Waffle Cabin.

Started in 1998, the Waffle Cabin has slowly grown across the country. It has locations at some of the Northeast’s most iconic ski resorts, which include Killington, Sunday River, Jay Peak, Okemo, and Mount Sunapee. It has a simple menu, with waffles and drinks (like hot chocolate, cider, and bottled beverages). The go-to move is getting your waffle with chocolate, which typically brings you to heaven.

There are some out west, but they’re less frequent. For now, the only other ones in the Western US are at Purgatory, Steamboat, The Summit at Snoqualmie, and Winter Park.

With this addition, it’s now officially debatable whether Brighton’s new Waffle Cabin is the most significant improvement at a Utah ski resort for the 2025-26 season.
