Every Year This Waterfall In China Freezes Into A Giant 450-Foot Christmas Tree

Waterfall Christmas Tree.

In the mountains on Linzhou, China, a stunning waterfall freezes into an incredible spectacle every year, attracting tourists from around the country.

The waterfall creates the shape of a frozen tree, or given that it’s close to the holidays and people like to make these kinds of connections, a 450-foot frozen Christmas tree.

Of course if there’s a frozen solid ice fall, there’s a good chance someone is going to try to climb it. In this case the climb was documented in this cool short film, “Searching for Christmas Tree”.

A university teacher looking to break free from a life of routine and a mysterious frozen waterfall that no one knows the whereabouts, spins this story of seemingly futile quests and ultimately transcending climb. This is also an interesting side look into a rarely seen facet of China, a snapshot of a generation growing up in tandem with China’s fascinating transformation over the past few decades.
