Snow Camp on BBC Radio 4’s Christmas Appeal
Presented by Snow Camp patron and four-time Winter Olympian Chemmy Alcott, the three-minute broadcast follows the powerful stories of two young people, Marcus, whose name has been changed to protect his identity, and Connor.
It will show how Snow Camp’s programmes helped them build confidence, resilience and hope through a blend of snowsports, mentoring, qualifications and wellbeing support.
Snow Camp delivers projects across London, the Midlands, the North West and Scotland, guiding young people through a pathway of support, from First Tracks to its award-winning Apprenticeship Programme.
Through these programmes, participants can access:
- Mental health support
- Employability skills
- A safe, supportive community
- Access to work placements and careers in snowsports and further afield

The BBC Radio 4 Appeal will air on:
- Sunday 28th December at 7:54am and 9:25pm
- Thursday 1st January at 3:27pm (Repeat broadcast)
“Being chosen for the BBC Radio 4 Appeal is a huge moment for Snow Camp,” said the founder of Snow Camp, Dan Charlish.
“The funds raised help us reach more young people who deserve opportunity, support and a community that believes in them.
“Whether you’re able to donate, support a session at a snow centre, or help in practical ways such as accommodation for a future event, it all makes a direct difference to the young people we work with.”

“Skiing gave me confidence, purpose, and eventually, the honour of competing for my country,” said Snow Camp patron and four-time Winter Olympian Chemmy Alcott.
“But I know I’ve been lucky.
“For many young people, snowsports can feel completely out of reach, and that’s why I became a patron of Snow Camp.”

About Snow Camp
Snow Camp is the UK’s only national youth snowsports charity, transforming young lives since 2003.
The idea for the charity began in a South London youth centre, when young people playing a snowboarding game on X-Box told founder Dan Charlish they’d never have the chance to try the real thing.
He raised a few thousand pounds, took 13 teenagers to the mountains and saw first-hand the power of snowsports to build resilience, teamwork and hope.
Since then, Snow Camp has supported more than 23,000 young people from inner-city communities, combining snowsports with life skills, mental health and wellbeing support, qualifications and career opportunities.
In 2025, the charity was ranked 15th in the UK’s Top 50 SME Apprenticeship Employers, the highest placed charity in the country.
It was also named Social Justice Apprentice Employer of the Year, recognising the charity’s commitment to creating real pathways for young people to thrive.
