Virginia Ski Resort Opens New Terrain Expansion

Basye, Virginia — One of the biggest U.S. terrain expansions for the 2025-26 ski season is situated at a place you wouldn’t expect.

Last weekend, Bryce Resort opened its new terrain expansion. This new expansion features four trails: one green, two blues, and one black diamond. The trail names are Speak Easy, Prost, 80’s Proof, and Randy’s Remedy. This expansion has grown Bryce’s skiable terrain by 35%. It’s serviced by a SkyTrac fixed-grip quad chairlift. All these trails have snowmaking, which is essential in the Southeastern ski industry.
“Improving accessibility for first timers was a major priority, but we also wanted to cater to the advanced skiers and snowboarders by adding more intermediate and advanced trails,” said Andrew DeVier-Scott, the Marketing Director of Bryce Resort, to Northern Virginia Magazine. “Our customer base has grown over the past five years, so it was time to expand.”
With these additions, Bryce Resort is currently sitting pretty at 100% open. Not bad for the weekend before Christmas.
About Bryce Resort
Located in the Shenandoah Valley, Bryce Resort is only a two-hour drive from Washington, D.C. While it’s a member-owned ski resort, it’s open to the public. It’s also on the Indy Pass. With this expansion, the ski resort now features 12 trails, 5 lifts, and a vertical drop of 500 feet. Some of the other winter activities include a lift-serviced snow tubing park and ice skating.
In the summer, Bryce Resort is home to an 18-hole golf course and lift-serviced mountain biking. Its growth as a ski resort demonstrates that while it may not be in the snowiest climate, a successful ski resort is possible in Virginia.
