High Winds Leave Arapahoe Basin Without Power, But They’re Still Open

A windstorm knocked out power at Colorado’s Arapahoe Basin Wednesday evening, limiting operations around the mountain yesterday and into today. However, while some portions of the ski area are closed, lifts are still spinning for skiing and snowboarding.
Lifts start spinning today at 9am, as planned, and day tickets are still available. Lessons are also still going as planned. Pre-booked rentals are good to go for today, but no day-of rentals will be available for the morning.
Retain and dining will both be closed to start the day. If power is restored to the mountain they’ll be able to open back up, but it’s not clear what that timeline looks like. Guest Services is open for those in need of assistance.
Arapahoe Basin currently has three lifts open to skiers and snowboarders, Black Mountain Express, Lenawee Express, and the Pika Place Carpet. The Molly Hogan Lift is on hold. 8 of 147 trails are open on the mountain, including top-to-bottom skiing.
