Team GB Score Snowboard Cross Mixed Team World Cup Win
Great Britain’s Huw Nightingale and Charlotte Bankes have claimed their first Mixed Team win in two years, competing at the FIS Snowboard Cross World Cup in Cervinia.
Nightingale and Bankes last topped the Mixed Team podium at the World Cup in Les Deux Alpes in December 2023. In 2024/25 they took second in Erzurum and fourth in Montafon, but could only manage 12th at the Engadin 2025 FIS Snowboard, Freestyle and Freeski World Championships.
For Bankes, who crashed in her quarterfinal on Saturday on her return from a collarbone injury in April, and Nightingale, who narrowly missed the finals in Friday’s qualification, the result was proof that their training was working.
“It’s been a long road but the team around me has been amazing. I’ve had great support back in the UK from the intensive rehab centre in Bisham, and the team around me here on snow. That’s meant that the return to snow’s been pretty quick,” said Bankes of her recovery, “We came here and we didn’t have any expectations, and yesterday didn’t quite go to plan but I knew I was fast and that was kind of a good step first. Then today, Huw’s been riding super well in training, it didn’t pay off for qualis but to see him riding like that today I didn’t have a choice but to pull it off, because he just smashed it,” she added.
