How Colorado’s 5 Snowiest Ski Areas Are Faring This Season

Rough conditions at Lunch Rock at Winter Park Resort, Colorado's 5th snowiest ski resort.

Colorado isn’t the powder capital of the United States by any means. Skiers and snowboarders in Utah, California, the Pacific Northwest, and beyond often see much more snow in a season than any resort in Colorado. But the state is still known for frequent powder days and often great snow coverage, at least when compared to ski resorts in the eastern half of the United States.

This season isn’t going that way, at least not quite. Many ski resorts in the Western United States are struggling with a lack of snowfall and warm temperatures, and while Colorado isn’t struggling as much as some states, it’s still looking fairly bleak so far. Every Colorado ski area is currently being outpaced by several Vermont ski resorts. While the season is only just beginning, this is how Colorado’s 5 snowiest ski resorts (based on averages provided by resorts) are fairing so far this year.
