Brookes Wins Big in Beijing
Great Britain’s Mia Brookes has launched her 2025/26 FIS Snowboard World Cup campaign in style, claiming victory at the Beijing Big Air. The 18‑year‑old rider delivered a commanding performance at the iconic Shougang venue, the same stage that hosted the Olympic Games nearly four years ago.
Brookes secured the win with a total score of 176.50, propelled by a standout second run worth 94.00 points for her switch frontside 1440 stalefish. That trick pushed her into pole position and proved untouchable for the rest of the field.
“This one’s really crazy, I’m super hyped,” she said afterwards. “I just wanted to come and put down back 12 and cab 14 and I did that, so I’m really stoked.”
Austria’s Hanna Karrer, just 17, celebrated her first World Cup podium with second place on 146.75, while Japan’s Momo Suzuki claimed third with 145.25, her third career Big Air bronze.
For Brookes, the result marks a powerful return after skipping the Stubai Slopestyle opener in November. The reigning Crystal Globe holder for both Big Air and overall Park & Pipe admitted last season had left her fatigued, but Beijing offered the perfect reset.
“It’s really special… it’s nice to come here and prove to myself that I can still do it,” she reflected.
