Other mountains in Colorado will hopefully also see the benefits of the storm with A Basin, Steamboat, Loveland, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Copper Mountain benefiting from the new snow.

“If the forecasting science works and this storm delivers, this could help the northern and central mountains substantially build their snowpack and allow a decent amount of additional terrain to open on Sunday and next week as mountain operations crews dig out,” said OpenSnow.

The new snow is expected to bring some avalanche danger to Colorado.

In the east of Canada, due to the cold temperatures and snowmaking operations that began early in November, 37 resorts were open for the first weekend of December in Quebec.

“Our resorts are ready and motivated to welcome skiers for another long ski season,” said the President and CEO of the Quebec Ski Areas Association, Yves Juneau.

“Thanks to improvements in snowmaking techniques and the expertise of the teams on the ground, the industry is able to offer an early opening and high-quality mountain experiences.”
