More US Resorts Open After Poor Start to Season

Resorts have delayed their openings across all the major US skiing states, and those that have opened have seen limited snow.

A lack of natural snow and unseasonable warm temperatures have led to the situation.

We have reported on it earlier:

Now some resorts are opening, albeit in less than ideal conditions.

In Utah Deer Valley is finally opening.

It kicks off the 2025-26 season on Friday, December 5, for a ‘passholder appreciation day’.

It opens to the general public on Saturday.

The early season terrain offerings include just three runs:

  • Birdseye
  • Silver Link
  • Success

The area is served by three chairlifts:

  • Carpenter Express
  • Sterling Express
  • Homestake Express

Park City also starts on Friday 5th with Alta opening on Sunday 7th.

In California Kirkwood opens on Friday and Northstar on Saturday.

It takes the number of ski areas open in the Lake Tahoe area to four.

In Idaho Sun Valley opens on Saturday with limited skiing available

In Canada is a different story.

PlanetSKI has already been skiing in Sunshine Village and Lake Louise near Banff in Alberta:
