Maine Ski Hill With $5 Tickets Opens Earlier Than Usual

South Berwick, Maine — If you’re wondering how the ski season in the Northeast is going, a ski hill that first opens as late as April during one ski season is already open.

On Tuesday, a snowstorm brought decent totals across New England. This included Powderhouse Hill in South Berwick, Maine. Relying on natural snow to open up, this snowstorm was enough to start Powderhouse’s rope tow for skiers.

On Wednesday, Powderhouse operated its rope tow from 7-9 p.m.

If you’re pondering a visit to Powderhouse, the ski hill has put together a guide to the experience.

First opened back in 1939, Powderhouse Hill is run by volunteers. Lift tickets are only $5, but they only take cash. That means they don’t take Crypto, bro. The ski hill typically operates on Wednesdays and Fridays from 7 to 9 p.m., and weekends from 12 to 4 p.m. Powderhouse Hill features three trails and one lift. With a vertical drop of 175 feet, it could be one of the smallest ski hills, if not the smallest, in the region.
