Pennsylvania's Ski Resorts Tally Fresh Snow as Opening Dates Arrive

Snow is flying at resorts across Pennsylvania as the start of the ski season arrives.

Camelback Resort, one of the state’s best-known mountains, first fired up its chairlifts today, December 3, 2025. The opening included the Nile Mile and Sunbowl trails with access via the Stevenson Lift and the Sunbowl lifts, which are operating between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The mountain, in a press release, noted that it’s tracking towards a solid early-season lineup thanks to its ongoing investments in high-efficiency snow guns.

“Our new upgrades are allowing us to cover more terrain faster, so we’re set up for a fantastic season ahead,” said Jason Bays, vice president and general manager at Camelback Resort.

Blue Mountain, known for being Pennsylvania’s largest ski resort, took to social media, sharing that it had tallied several inches of snow, with the day’s total expected to hit five inches. The ski resort’s slopes, per its webcams, are now coated in white.

Blue Mountain will open on Friday, December 5, 2025, the mountain confirmed via press release. The resort plans to open 13 trails comprising 40 acres of skiable terrain, an impressive trail count for the first day of the season.

Jack Frost, a nearby ski area owned and operated by Vail Resorts, is also planning to open on December 5, 2025. “Our incredibly hardworking snowmaking team laid the base while Mother Nature gifted us with some extra fluff.” Jack Frost wrote in a social media post.

They won’t be the last Pennsylvania ski resorts to open this week. Seven Springs, too, is getting the party started with seven inches of natural snowfall in the past 24 hours, according to its snow report. It opens on Saturday, December 6, 2025.

Seven Springs opted for Saturday instead of Friday because it spied the arrival of “prime snowmaking conditions” on Friday. “A little extra time = a lot more snow,” the ski resort wrote. Opening day terrain details are forthcoming.

The slew of planned Pennsylvania ski resort openings comes as some mountains out west are struggling with low snow.

Several resorts that delayed their openings, like Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Sun Valley, Idaho, have since reconfirmed their opening dates, though, with more snow in the forecast.
