Deer Valley To Open Some Trails At Noon For Fresh Tracks

Park City, Utah — If you’ve ever wanted to avoid waking up early and still be able to score some fresh corduroy turns, Deer Valley Resort has created a program just for you.
TownLift reports that Deer Valley will be using the new terrain off Big Dutch Peak as part of a new grooming program. Deer Valley will keep some of its terrain off Big Dutch Peak closed until 12 p.m. At noontime, Deer Valley’s ski patrol will drop the gates, allowing guests to get fresh tracks. The trails that are part of this will alternate by the day.

Guests can access this terrain by taking the Deer Valley East Village Gondola to the mid-station. A new lift that directly services this terrain pod is eventually planned, but this is currently the easiest way to get there. The terrain also appears to be accessible by the Vulcan Express.
There are some ski resorts that do or did midday grooming. In New England, some examples include Gunstock and Wachusett. Some ski areas also do a mid-day groom before night skiing, like Blue Mountain Resort, Kimberly, and Steamboat. This is something different, making it another reason why Deer Valley distinguishes itself from the rest of the pack.
This season, Deer Valley is adding nearly 80 trails and 7 lifts. Over the past two seasons, Deer Valley has added around 100 new trails and 10 new lifts. The original goal was for Deer Valley to open this terrain in late December, but warmer-than-average weather so far this season could alter that.
