Maine Ski Area Lowers Lift Ticket Prices For 2025-26 Season

Lee, Maine — Due to most of them being located in remote areas, Maine ski areas face a challenging task in recruiting skiers to their slopes. To combat this, along with the high price of everything these days, one ski area is drastically reducing its lift ticket prices.

Earlier this month, Mt. Jefferson Ski Area announced its pricing for the 2025-26 season. It will be among the most affordable in the state, and among the cheapest. Daily lift ticket prices will be $30, which is noticeably lower than the prices of day passes, which can exceed $300 at some major ski resorts. Other price highlights include $25 two-hour tubing tickets, a rental package priced at $30, and a season pass that tops out at $259.

These price drops are notable due to the ski area’s pricing last winter. Lift tickets on weekends topped at $60. However, after receiving guest feedback, Mt. Jefferson decided to reduce lift tickets to $45 during the 2024-25 season. As demonstrated above, they’ve made it even cheaper for this upcoming winter.

While there’s some disagreement among skiers over Jefferson’s claim that it is the “cheapest in Maine,” it’s encouraging to see a ski area lowering prices during these expensive times.

About Mt Jefferson Ski Area

Opened during the 1964-65 season, Mt. Jefferson is a small ski area with a lot of heart.

The 432-foot vertical drop ski area is serviced by three lifts. It operates without snowmaking, making it an outlier in New England’s ski industry. On a clear day, it’s possible to see Mt. Katahdin from the summit. In terms of off-slope activities, there’s snow tubing. To keep busy during the offseason, Mt. Jefferson hosts events. The owner has some interesting side hustles, which include selling tiny homes and firewood. It’s faced operational hurdles in the past, such as not operating during the 2019-20 season. While it’s a bit out of the way, it sounds like a fun place to ski if you’re around Bangor.
