Short Ski Film Asks Just How Much Skiing Can Be Fit In A Single Day

What it takes to ski all day long.

For many of us, the ski day can last as long as the lifts are spinning, whether that’s from 8am-3pm or 9am-4pm. For others, it’s just a question of how long the light lasts, starting up the mountain at the break of down and returning to their car right as the sun sets. Backcountry‘s short film Ski The Day asks just how much skiing can be fit in a single day.

Ski The Day is a collection of stories built around that idea. Each segment captures one crew, one location, and one full day in the mountains—from first light to last chair, sunrise to starlight. Across every turn, storm, and moment in between, the film explores what it really takes to make the most of the days we get to spend out there.

In partnership with High West, Xpore, Rab, and The North Face, Harris Mountains Heli Ski, Powder Mountain, and 805 Brewing, the short film takes you from the powder-filled slopes of Utah to the mountains of New Zealand, exploring what it takes to ski all day long. It features a range of athletes including Parkin Costain, Toby Miller, Ana Eyssimont, Tom Wallisch, Tim McChesney, Brita Sigourney, Robin Gillon, and many more.

Beyond the single day of skiing, the video tackles the late season, unexpected bonus powder days and the incredible joy that comes with them. To close it out, there’s truly nothing like one last bell-to-bell jump session day.
