Killington Set To Open With Most Terrain in Recent History
Killington, Vermont, just announced its opening day, and it’s set to be a big one.
The East Coast ski resort will fire up its chairlifts on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, with what it’s calling “most opening day terrain in recent history.”
The opening day is reserved for Killington Winter 2025/26, Beast 365, and Ikon Pass holders, with a general public opening on Thursday. As usual, passholders will be treated to a complimentary opening day lunch.
On Wednesday, skiers can slide down the Great Northern, Downdraft Headwall, Rime, Reason, and Upper East Fall trails, all in the upper mountain area.
Those slopes will be accessed by two lifts, the K-1 Express Gondola and the North Ridge Quad. To download at the end of the day, some walking will be required on the Peak Walkway to reach the K-1 Express. Both lifts are scheduled to be open between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily, weather permitting.
Alongside the runs, a few terrain park features will pepper Reason for some early-season k-feds and backswaps. As is typically the case with November skiing, Killington cautioned that early-season conditions exist and no beginner terrain will be available.Â

Killington appears ready to carry its momentum beyond opening day.
The resort said in its conditions report that chillier weather is expected to return Monday night, with continued snowmaking planned on Upper Double Dipper and Great Northern to Lower Ridge Run. Killington added that top-to-bottom skiing could come online later this week.Â
Mother Nature could deliver some assistance, too. As our friends at Powderchasers reported, Killington could tally between six to ten inches of natural snow by Monday, November 17. On Monday night and Tuesday, just before opening day, the ski resort is to receive around three inches of snow.
Other Northeast ski resorts can’t be too far behind. Sunday River, Maine, has been dutifully snowmaking, as has Jay Peak, Vermont. And one mountain out East, Sommet Saint-Sauveur, Quebec, has already kicked off the 2025-26 season.Â
It’s only a matter of time, folks.
