Bull Moose Attacks Woman Walking With Her Dog In Boulder County, Colorado

A woman walking her dog off-leash was attacked by a young bull moose west of Jamestown in Boulder County, Colorado on Wednesday, October 5th.
According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the animal knocked the woman to the ground and stomped her multiple times around 1pm. She was brought to a nearby hospitals with head and back injuries.
Colorado Parks and f responded to the scene to search for the animal but were ultimately unable to locate it. Multiple signs warning off aggressive moose behavior have since been placed around the scene.
Most reported attacks involve dogs, with the moose viewing them as potential threats or predators. When recreating outside pets should always be kept on a leash, especially near riparian habitats where moose frequently live. The ungulates are large and very fast, moving at speeds up to 35 miles per hour. They should always be given plenty of space and never approached when encountered.
