The Best Ski Width According To POWDER Readers
There’s no use dancing around it—I’ve got a hot take that’s been stewing for quite some time now, and the more I think about it, the more I realize it’s a hill I will die on.
You’re probably thinking, “What’s the take and is it as bathwater lukewarm as all the other takes Izzy thinks are going to be spicy?” You tell me, friends, here goes: the best ski width is undeniably 112mm underfoot.
I’ll die on the 112mm hill, but what do you think? Tap into our weekly POWDER Reader Poll below. Keep reading for more on why I think 112mm is the best ski width for any condition.

If you’re thinking, “Duh, if you’re skiing a 112mm width, it’s probably a powder day, of course you love that ski,” I’d like to counter and say, expand your mind, because I mean for every day.
If I was only able to ski one width for the rest of my life, I would undoubtedly ski 112mm skis. Most, if not all, of my favorite skis in the last three years have all been 112mm underfoot, which include, but aren’t limited to: Blizzard Rustler 11s, Armada ARV 112s, and 4FRNT Hojis.
Each of these skis is completely different from the other, except for their shared waist width, and each has impressed me in pretty much every condition from low-tide, rock-littered slopes to deep powder days, and basically everything in between.
Their different construction and shapes mean that each of these skis brings something totally different to the table. They have formed a versatile quiver for yours truly, despite all being relatively the same width. It’s just that 112mm magic.
Furthermore, I have never wanted a ski wider than these while skiing them, nor have I ever really wished for anything narrower, which would be the only conceivable counterargument to this. However, to this I’d respond: (in a Lord Farquaad voice, obviously) “Get stronger calves, cowards!!”
