Early Turns Await: Winter Park To Open on Halloween for 2025–26 Season

Early Turns Await: Winter Park To Open on Halloween for 2025–26 Season

Already have plans for Halloween? You might want to clear your schedule.

Hot on the heels of Arapahoe Basin and Keystone Resort, Winter Park has announced its opening date: Halloween, or Friday, October 31, 2025. The ski resort broke the news on social media, noting that the mountain will open at 1 p.m.

“Halloween isn’t the only treat this week! Fresh snow and early turns await!” Winter Park wrote. According to the ski resort’s website, Winter Park will be open until 4 p.m. on Friday. At the time of writing this, there wasn’t more information available, but Winter Park advised its fans to check its Instagram stories for updates.

Sky-Hi News reported that the upcoming opening date matches Winter Park’s earliest opening date in history. In 2022, the ski resort also opened on Halloween.

The announcement positions Winter Park to become the third ski resort to open in Colorado for the 2025-26 season, behind Arapahoe Basin and Keystone Resort. Although, as we learned last Saturday, there’s always the possibility of some shenanigans—Keystone snuck ahead of Arapahoe Basin that day when it hosted its first-ever afternoon opening.

Loveland Ski Area, another Colorado mountain known for firing up the chairlifts early, hasn’t confirmed an opening date yet.

The flurry of opening dates makes Colorado, as usual, the nexus of early-season resort skiing. Other states like California and Utah have planned ski resort opening dates fast approaching, though. Brian Head, Utah, is targeting November 7—that’s the Friday after next, for those who prefer not to look at a calendar.

Mammoth Mountain, California, is scheduled to open just a week later on November 14. Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe, usually Lake Tahoe’s frontrunner, has previously said that it’s aiming for November 8.

In short, the ski season has arrived for a select number of lucky skiers. By the end of next month, though, most everyone across North America will be riding the chairlifts at their favorite mountain. We hope you’ve been doing those pre-season workouts!
