K2 Quietly Drops Sean Pettit’s Limited K2000 Ski and Snowboard Line
Sean Pettit is a man of many talents. As one of the most prolific skiers of the mid 2000s, he went a bit dark over the last decade, quietly dropping a handful of video parts and keeping his hands in all sorts of projects with iconic brands like Oakley, K2, Mountain Hardwear and more. He even started showing off his snowboarding prowess, of all things.
This year, he teamed up with longtime ski sponsor K2 to drop a line of sci-fi and retro-inspired gear that includes skis and boots, plus a full line of SNOWBOARD hardgoods. The line has been teased on K2’s social channels for weeks now, and it’s finally out. It’s called K2000, and it’s SOOOO Sean Pettit.
K2000 Specs
Hailing from Canada, Pettit is a one-of-a-kind skier, who’s extremely unique skiing was emblematic of high-energy freeskiing over a decade ago. These days, he hasn’t slowed down much, and as always is focused on lathering on the style whether its in the park, the backcountry, or elsewhere.
The new K2000 line is centered on the K2000 AT99S ski, based on the footprint and shape of the existing Mindbender 99Ti, with an added bi-axial carbon fiber weave layer beneath the nylon topsheet. That promises to make it a bit stiffer and damper than the standard 99Ti, more in line with Pettit’s powerful skiing.
Next to the ski, there’s a limited-edition AT130 ski boot (based off the existing Mindbender BOA 130 men’s boot). There’s an upgraded liner with a second BOA closure in lieu of laces, a walk mode, tech inserts, and a powerful 130 flex. Everything you need to get rad in the mountains.
On the snowboard side of things, Pettit helped design the K2 ATSB snowboard and ATSB bindings, plus the AT92 snowboard boots. We’ve been seeing more and more ski brands go down the snowboard route (though K2 has actually been making boards for many years), and given Pettit’s affinity for going sideways, this line comes as no surprise.
