3 Lessons and a Season Ski Pass for $799—Palisades Tahoe Targets Beginners

There’s one thing every person in America knows about skiing, regardless of whether they’ve ever clicked into a pair of bindings—it’s expensive.

Skiing has never been positioned as an affordable pastime. Lift tickets, gear, lodging, gas, food, and other extraneous expenses prevent a large portion of American citizens from even considering the sport. Palisades Tahoe, California is hoping to change that.

Known for being California’s largest ski resort, Palisades Tahoe has launched the ‘Perfect Progression Program‘ for the upcoming ski season. The program is meant for people who have never skied or snowboarded before, and it comes in at a ridiculously low price.

For just $799 (the cost of about four lift tickets purchased day-of at Palisades Tahoe), participants 18 years and older get three half-day lessons with lift tickets at Alpine, gear rentals, three meal vouchers, and a season pass at Palisades Tahoe upon completion of the program.

“This program is truly the best deal in skiing,” said Patrick Lacey, PR Manager of Palisades Tahoe. “We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy, challenge, and beauty of the mountains. Perfect Progression removes the barriers to entry and provides everything you need — lessons, equipment, and the motivation to keep progressing — all in one simple package.”

We should note that spending $799 to get into the sport of skiing isn’t exactly cheap, but the value of three professionally instructed lessons, lift tickets, gear rentals, and bonus perks far outweighs the upfront cost.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what the Perfect Progression Program would cost without Palisades Tahoe offering the package at a steep discount:

  • Lift Tickets x3: $600 (based on approximate average of 1-day window rates)
  • Lessons x3: $672 (based on online first-time/beginner lesson rates at Alpine)
  • Goggles + Neck Gaiter: ~$100
  • Season Pass: $1,000+ (Palisades Tahoe doesn’t sell a season pass specific to its mountain, but Ikon Passes, which offer unlimited access, are currently selling for $1,400+)
  • Total Value: $2300+

We’re big fans of affordable skiing options here at POWDER, and when a resort like Palisades Tahoe takes action to get people on the slopes, and teach them, we’re going to celebrate it. Especially when it seems like everything is getting expensive these days.

Consider sharing this article with your buddy who you’ve never been able to convince to go skiing. They no longer have an excuse to not give it a shot this upcoming winter.

As a Palisades Tahoe skier, I hope folks take advantage of this opportunity. It’s truly the deal of the season. Ski ya out there.
