Photo Tour of Palisades Tahoe's First Snowfall—October Storm Transforms Resort

A wet and wintry storm rolled over California’s largest ski resort this week (October 13-15, 2025), and skiers from San Francisco to Reno are surely celebrating.

Palisades Tahoe is reporting 6-10 inches of total snowfall from the storm as of Wednesday, October 15, 2025. It turned out to be just enough to transform the previously dry slopes into winter wonderland.

The resort has shared the following selection of photos for all of us to enjoy. Take a peak, keep doing your snow dances, and start prepping for Palisades Tahoe’s planned opening day on November 26, 2025!

Everybody loves a good picnic table buried in snow. High Camp didn’t disappoint this morning.

Temperatures are expected to warm up this weekend, meaning that most of the snow that fell this week will most likely melt, but that’s okay! This storm was a nice treat for October, but we’re still a solid month from real winter showing up across the Sierra Nevada.

Take a deep breath. Enjoy this storm, and know it might be a bit before the next!

POWDER’sIan Greenwood and I plan to ski Palisades Tahoe quite a bit this winter. We’ll keep you posted with weekly conditions reports and more from California’s largest ski resort all winter long.

Happy (almost) winter, friends. Powder to the People.
