Colorado Parks And Wildlife Investigating Suspected Moose Poaching
Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) is currently investigating a suspecting poaching incident in relation to the death of a cow moose near Deer Creek in Park County.

Anyone who many have been in the area and heard shots between September 28th and September 30th, or anyone who many have seen the moose, is asked to contact Operation Game Thief at 1-800-COLO-OGT. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
According to CPW, poaching harms legitimate sportspersons, wildlife viewers, small business owners and taxpayer in addition to the animals. A person charged with poaching violations can face heavy fines and suspension of hunting and fishing licenses if convicted.
Operation Game Thief is a program in Colorado that pays rewards to citizens who turn in poachers. If a poacher is arrested or issued a citation on the basis of information provided by a caller, the tipster can receive up to $1,000 in rewards depending on the case. $100 is offered for fishing and small game cases, $250 is offered for information on turkey, and $500 is offered for information on cases involving big game or endangered species. In flagrant cases, the board may approve rewards up to $1,000.
