Alex Honnold Shares His Problem With Mountaineering

Alex Honnold is easily among the most well known rock climbers in the world, accomplishing some of the most incredible free solo ascents of big walls ever. While mountaineering and climbing are often lumped into one category, he admits that he is not a mountaineer.

In a recent episode of his podcast, Climbing Gold, Honnold sat down with American mountaineer, mountain guide, speaker, and author Melissa Arnot Reid. At one point, they discuss Honnold’s problem with mountaineering, specifically pointing toward the lack of experience that you see from clients on some of the world’s deadliest mountains.
