Preventing ACL Injuries In Skiing By Addressing Valgus Knee

Valgus movement is involved in a significant number of ACL injuries on the slopes. Excessive valgus movement, when the knees move inward toward the midline of your body, can lead to ACL and knee injuries. So if you’re looking to keep your ski season going as long as possible, working to prevent your knees form going valgus is vital.
In the below video, Outdoor Adventure Training provides several ways to assess your knees and determine whether or not they go valgus. Once you’ve done that, Outdoor Adventure Training shows multiple workouts and exercises to prevent that valgus movement.
Proper pre-season training for skiing should include both cardio and strength training. With a healthy combination of both, you can enter the ski season in shape and strong enough to ski all day long with a reduced risk of injury.
