“Don’t Believe The Media” What It’s Like Guiding Mount Everest Expeditions

These days when you read headlines about Everest they are either about sporadic record setting feats like Andrzej Bargiel who just skied down Everest without supplementary oxygen or a preponderance of coverage about tragic deaths, overwhelming amounts of trash and the world’s tallest mountain being used as political pawn.
It’s not often we get a real-deal, candid, behind-the-scenes perspective on the ultimate symbol in adventure culture and we really appreciate Adrian Ballinger for pulling back the curtain and allowing the audience a peek into what its really like being on the ground and leading expeditions.
“This episode tells the story of the season and I hope a little insight into how and why I climb Mt. Everest. Why Everest Matters? Here’s my answer.”
Follow along as Ballinger returns to Everest for his 10th personal summit as he leads an Alpenglow Expeditions team on Mount Everest…this time from the North Side.
“For Adrian, a longtime guide on the mountain, the trip results in his 10th personal summit. But the story goes far beyond reaching the top. Adrian reflects on his long relationship with Everest, what it means to guide here, and why the peak continues to hold meaning — for personal challenge, for guiding, and for the wider climbing community. This isn’t just another summit push. It’s a look at the history, the risks, and the evolving relationship climbers have with the world’s highest mountain.”
