Top New Ski Films of 2025: Full List and Trailers
These days, ski movie season looks a little different.
What was once a stable of four or five major productions has blossomed into countless films. Thanks to the democratization of media through consumer cameras and platforms like YouTube, you don’t need a helicopter to make a ski movie anymore. Grit and filmmaking know-how suffice.
That doesn’t just mean more to watch. Variety, too, is part of the modern ski movie zeitgeist. While the major studios like Matchstick Productions and Teton Gravity Research still have the straightforward action flicks we all know and love, slower-paced stories about motherhood or ski mountaineering records are part of the snow sports canon. In short, there’s something for everyone.
To help you keep up with the deluge of Fall 2025 releases, here’s what we’re excited about watching. Most are touring and will appear online for free or for purchase in the coming months. Did we miss a flick you’re excited about? Get in touch.
We’ll update this list as more trailers come online.
Major Ski Movies
Ornada– Armada
A full-fledged team movie, Ornada surveys a wide-ranging cast of sponsored athletes, from up-and-comers like Olivia Asselin to longtime stalwarts Tanner Hall, Mike Hornbeck, and Phil Casabon. The film’s five flagship tour events in Salt Lake City, Newport Beach, Innsbruck, New York, and Quebec City will feature a unique live musical accompaniment. Long a champion of skiing’s trick-oriented next generation, Armada is now officially an institution. Ornada, unsurprisingly, features some of the best and most creative skiers on earth.

Pressure Drop– Teton Gravity Research
Snowmaking tests, fall’s first snow, opening day—every year, skiers have goalposts to look towards as the season approaches. The release of Teton Gravity Research’s annual films is another steadfast sign of the good times to come. This year, the production house is releasing its 30th movie, Pressure Drop. While much has changed in skiing since the 1990s, the appeal of packing into a theater and catching the latest film from TGR is unflinching.

After the Snowfall– Matchstick Productions
What happens when you put rippers like Jess Hotter, Parker White, and Nikolai Schirmer in front of the lens? Magic, mostly. But Matchstick Production’s After the Snowfall isn’t only about gripping, top-tier skiing. The movie is an exploration of the quieter, more relatable moments, too, with reflections about skiing from the pros and everyday skiers interspersed throughout. We can’t all heli ski in Alaska. We can, however, all appreciate the unbridled joy that comes from sliding down snow.

Sno-Ciety– Warren Miller Entertainment
Back with its 76th film, SNO-CIETY, Warren Miller Entertainment has gathered an all-star crew of skiers and snowboarders that includes Daron Rahlves, Britta Winans, Judd Henkes, Sarka Panacochova, Breezy Johnson, Chris Rubens, Juho Kilkki, and more. The name Juho Kilkki may ring some bells, as he’s responsible, in part, for the Finnish Real Skifi, an influential web series that bends the rules of street skiing to spectacular effect. The Real Skifi segment from last winter’s Warren Miller flick was a mind-bending treat. Daron Rahlves, meanwhile, is preparing to relaunch his cult-classic Banzai Tour alongside his duties as a ski movie star.

Cold Calls– Blank Collective
If Cold Calls, from Blank Collective, only featured Josh Daiek and his so-fast-you-might-miss-it flavor of big mountain skiing, it would be worth watching. But Josh isn’t the only hard charger involved. Emma Patterson, Alexi Godbout, Jacob Belanger, Alex Armstrong, Bernt Marius Rorstad, Wyatt Gentry, and Tom Peiffer round out the starring lineup, helping make Blank’s forthcoming romp in the mountains another must-watch.

Shorts, Solo Projects, and Adventures
Outside the TGR and MSP buzz, there’s an endless-seeming bounty of shorts, solo projects, and narrative driven adventures. Some prioritize pure skiing action. Others use skiing as a vehicle to tell heartfelt stories.
Ski for the Love
The fourth film from a crew of Tahoe skiers, including Josh Gold, Garret Balen, and Jed Kravitz, Ski for the Love is dropping this fall. Check out the guys’ movie from last year here for a taste of what to expect.
One Step Ahead—Bernt Marius Rørstad
Skier Bernt Marius Rørstad lost the lower half of one of his legs in an accident. One Step Ahead documents what it took for the Norwegian to keep skiing afterward. Blank, the studio behind the movie, calls it “a raw, honest look at what it takes to keep moving forward when everything changes.” Catch the One Step Ahead at Salomon’s Quality Ski Time Film Tour.
Edge of Reason—Cody Townsend and Nikolai Schrimer
What do Cody Townsend and Nikolai Schirmer have in common? They both don’t (seem to) mind a long backcountry ascent approach. In Edge of Reason, they venture to Schirmer’s home turf, the Lyngen Alps. Catch the Edge of Reason at Salomon’s Quality Ski Time Film Tour.
Out of The Ordinary—Head & Tyrolia
A celebration of HEAD and TYROLIA’s talented team, Out of The Ordinary‘s cast reads like a freeskiing who’s-who list. Included are Xander Guldman, Jess Hotter, and Jesper Tjader—to only name a few. The full film releases on November 22.
Endorphin—Manon Loschi
The former Freeride World Tour athlete Manon Loschi participated in the first-ever Natural Selection Tour ski event this past winter. Now, she’s preparing to drop Endorphin. While we don’t know too much about the movie aside from what the trailer shows, Loschi’s been on a tear recently. Catch Endorphin at the Level 1 Freeski Film Tour.
Phantom—Colby Stevenson
Last fall, Colby Stevenson went all in for Proof, his first solo film. If Proof is anything to go off, his next movie, Phantom, should deliver more of those iconic Colby backcountry booter sessions we’ve come to love. Catch Phantom at the Level 1 Freeski Film Tour.
Trails Still Blazing—Megan McJames
Alpine racer Megan McJames sped her way to three Olympic appearances. Now, she’s tackling a new challenge: motherhood. Trails Still Blazing chronicles the delicate balance of being a skier and a parent. Catch Trails Still Blazing at the Girl Wintertour.
Into the Wild South—Andrzej Bargiel and Jędrek Baranowski
Known for accomplishing the first complete ski descent of K2, Andrzej Bargiel knows a thing or two about testing the limits of ski mountaineering. In Into the Wild South, he goes on his first ski expedition to South America alongside his partner, Jędrek Baranowski. Catch Into the Wild SouthSalomon’s Quality Ski Time Film Tour.
TKO—Magma
The supergroup Magma—consisting of skiers Alex Hall and Hunter Hess alongside filmer Owen Dahlberg—reliably put out heavy freeskiing shorts. Hess’ quarterpipe triple on the flanks of Mt. Hood in Magma’s first film remains one of this generation’s most memorable ski movement moments. TKO, Magma’s next trick, is touring this fall.
Queen of the Catskills—Julie McGuire
Queen of the Catskills follows skier and high school English teacher Julie McGuire as she embarks on an enormous mission, backcountry skiing 33 of the highest peaks in the Catskill Mountains. This one’s for the Northeast crowd. Catch Queen of the Catskills at the Girl Wintertour.
Dear Superhero—Janina Kuzma
Another story of motherhood in the mountains, in Dear Superhero, guide and skier Janina Kuzma wrestles with how becoming a parent might change her life and career. Catch Dear Superhero at the Girl Wintertour.
