The Forgotten Great Lakes of North America

The Forgotten Great Lakes of North America

North America's forgotten Great Lakes.

The North American continent is home to a lot of huge lakes, from the Great Salt Lake to Lake Winnipeg and Great Bear Lake. Of course none are quite as famous or great as the North American Great Lakes, Lake Superior, Lake Huron, Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, and Lake Ontario. There are many major lakes beyond the Great Lakes that sit in the Great Lakes watershed, and they’re pretty incredible on their own. Signore Galilei explored several of these lakes.

The lakes that the video mentions include Lake Sinclair, located between the Canadian province of Ontario and the state of Michigan, Lake Nipigon, located in Ontario, Lake Winnebago, located in Wisconsin, Lake Simcoe in Ontario, Lake Nipissing in Ontario, and Lake Champlain, located between Vermont, New York, and the Canadian Province of Quebec.

The video also discusses the combination between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, or Lake Michigan-Huron. Together they represent the largest fresh water lake in the world. The combination is justified by the Straits of Mackinac, which naturally connects the two. Additionally it mentions Lake Algonquin, a lake that once covered all of Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and Lake Superior.
