Black Mountain Sale Finalized, Ski Area Aims for Earliest Opening Ever
New Hampshire’s Black Mountain Community Corporation has completed the purchase of the Black Mountain ski area, about a year after it began.
In October 2024, the Indy Pass and its parent company, Entebani Systems, bought Black Mountain with the goal of transforming it into a community-owned co-op ski area. Previously, the companies helped Black Mountain by providing the resources it needed to stay open during the 2023-24 season, preventing its closure.Â
Erik Mogensen, the managing director of the Indy Pass and the Black Mountain Community Corporation’s president, said in a recent letter, “Almost exactly one year ago, we purchased the business and its assets, leaving the underlying real estate to be transacted separately at some point in the future.”
Now that real estate has been bought.

Mogensen said that buying the real estate required more capital than what the Indy Pass and Entebani Systems had already invested into Black Mountain this past season. Several supporters offered additional funding, who, Mogensen said, have joined Entabeni Systems and Indy Pass in becoming the first shareholders of the Black Mountain Community Corporation.
Mogensen added that the Black Mountain Community Corporation is moving forward with an SEC Regulation A filing that will allow the sale of shares to the general public. He said that will allow the Black Mountain community to have a say in the ownership and future of the ski area.
“My goal has always been to establish a model that balances this community ownership with effective and decisive management, ensuring that Black Mountain remains not only open but in fact leads by example with what the sport and culture of skiing can and should be,” Mogensen said.
Last season, with Mogensen at the helm, Black Mountain stayed open until May 3. Mogensen also received praise for his response to the death of a skier at Black Mountain in April.
The ski area has spent the past summer preparing for the coming ski season. Mogensen advised local skiers to wait for updates as Black Mountain approaches what he hopes will be its “earliest opening day ever.”
