Minnesota Ski Area Seeks The Public’s Help In Naming Of New Chairlift

Spirit Mountain in Minnesota.

Spirit Mountain ski area, located just outside Duluth, Minnesota, is seeking assistance from the public in naming their brand new 4-person chairlift. The new chairlift will replace the Summit and Gandy chairs, both of which have been in service for over 50 years.

In seeking the public’s help, Spirit Mountain is offering a season pass to one lucky voter in their chairlift naming poll. Votes can be cast until 11:59pm on September 30th, 2025, and the winning name will be announced on October 1st, 2025. The randomly selected voter will also be contacted on October 1st.

There are 13 names available to choose from, all of which honor Duluth’s rich logging, mining and maritime history. The names include Bolter, Boom Tender, Chopper, Cutter, Gandy Dancer, Hasher, High Rigger, Highline, Hoister, Jack Line, Jagger, Roper, and Stinger. There is no option to enter a write in, so unfortunately no “Chairy McChairface.”
