Waterfalls Cascade Down Cliffs As Flash Flooding Hits Moab, Utah

Travelers in the Moab, Utah, area captured a mesmerizing yet terrifying cascade of water as flash flooding overtook the area last week. The footage, filmed by Gary Allen Hypes, shows the water reaching fairly high depths along the decently trafficked roadway.
The footage was captured late last week as, according to Fox 26, half an inch of rain fell on Moab on Friday alone.
Flash flooding is typically defined by floods that within 6 hours, and often within 3 hours, of heavy rainfall or another cause. Because of how quickly it arrives, flash flooding can frequently catch people off guard and put them in dangerous situations.
More deaths occur annually from flooding than any other thunderstorm related hazard. Just 6 inches of fast-moving water can knock over an adult, while just 12 inches can carry away most cars. Once the water hits 2 feet, it can carry away SUVs and trucks. If you encounter flood waters, do not attempt to drive or walk through them.
