How To Land Ski Jumps Without Significant Impact

How not to land a jump on skis.

Hitting a jump on skis can get pretty spooky, especially when you’re hitting your first few or taking it up a notch on size. Even when you take off perfectly or nail your trick, the landing can be hurt or lead to a serious crash. YouTuber John Davison went over the ways to ensure you land your ski jumps without significant impact.

Davison pushes two primary points through his video. Landing spot and landing form. For landing spot, you should aim to land in the jump’s sweet spot. That’s the space between the jump’s knuckle and the area where the jump starts to flatten out. Landing on the knuckle or just passed the knuckle will lead to some major impact, as will landing too far out.

The second concept surrounds backseat landings. You should aim to land flat on the base of your skis, not at more of an angle. When you land on the back of your skis, you increase the impact experienced through the landing.
