Ever Wanted To Eat a Five-Course Meal in the Sky? You Can at This Ski Resort

Have you ever ridden a gondola and considered all the possibilities for these little floating sky boxes? Like, what if you had a tiny rave in one? Or a full-on meal?

Arizona Snowbowl had the very same thought for their final culinary event of the summer season. Located 14 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona, the ski area will host guests for a “pop-up” dinner experience aboard the mountain’s Arizona Gondola on Sunday, September 28.

To kick the evening off, a drink and appetizer course will be served on the Sky Bar rooftop, before guests board the gondola.

Once aboard a gondola car, each 23-minute trip around the gondy will feature a different course of the meal and craft beer pairing. The night finishes with dessert and a final drink pairing by the fire pit at the Agassiz Lodge.

The event, which has been dubbed Embers & Ales, features a five-course menu by Flagstaff’s Satchmo’s BBQ, paired with craft beers from Mother Road Brewing Company.

In total, guests will eat five courses of Cajun-inspired dishes at 11,500 feet. The event is pretty genius and sounds much better than the meat sticks, granola bars, and cheap beers most of us are indulging in on gondy laps.

“Dinner in a gondola is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Where else can you enjoy a meal while traversing terrain with incredible Arizona views?” said Jamie Thousand, owner of Satchmo’s BBQ in Flagstaff, in a press release.

The Elevated Embers event is the second dinner offered aboard the Arizona Gondola this summer, following the Shift Your Viewpoint dinner hosted in August in collaboration with Shift Kitchen and Oeno Wine Lounge. Dishes at the last event included bàhn mì spring rolls, lamb skewers, and fire-roasted bison.

Each gondola cabin will carry four people, and tickets are available for $650 per cabin. Arizona Snowbowl plans to continue the gondola dinners in 2026.
